ZYZZYVA: spring 2012 (issue #94)

[ Thurs Apr 12 12 ]

ZYZZVA celebrated the release of Issue 94 (Spring 2012) at The Booksmith with Oscar Villalon hosting readings by, in the following order: Lindsey Thordarson, Benjamin T. Miller, and Elana Mauli Shapiro. It was the night of the great thunderstorm—an excellent night for three excellent stories. I was talking with Jason Scheinheit and Matthew Sherling afterward and we were all like, man, it’s been a long time since I went to an event that featured nothing but good fiction (especially from multiple writers, I mean: I went to this and this and this, but that last one is something different and now we’re hanging out in the first week of February again. Do you know how many readings I’ve seen since then? A lot! I guess now’s a good time to bring up the fact that no fiction was awarded a Pulitzer this year and, alternately, to point to a resurgence in poetry (for I have been remarking all week how many great readings I’ve been to lately). I think Jack Foley is on to something.).

Above is the whole show, with introductions by Villalon. Click “Play” to watch all, “Next” to skip forward, or the small “Insert” screen (to the right of the video time) to see thumbnails and watch them directly.
