Hope in the Dark: Activist Book Club

April 20, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm UTC+0

Free

Not just any book club. An intentional, socially engaged book club with an activist agenda. It all started with a pervasive sense of dread and overwhelm…do you know the feeling?

If you are ready to ameliorate this sense of dread and overwhelm by grounding yourself in community, to listen to and feel empathy for perspectives different from your own, if you believe in story, please join us. If you are ready to do the work of facing challenging topics and checking our privileges and assumptions in a supportive, safe environment; if you want some mutual accountability to keep each other moving forward; if you want to organize action but don’t know how, join us. We don’t have the answers, but we are armed to the teeth with questions!

We can’t really say it better than the folks at Finding steady ground: “The goal is to become a student of history so that you can take inspiration and deepen your understanding of how to struggle and thrive.”

Our first book is Hope in the Dark by Rebecca Solnit! It’s a quick read but full of important stories and, well, hope.
