Fourteen Hills is happy to announce that the winner of the 2016 Michael Rubin Book Award is recent graduate Loria Mendoza for her story collection Life’s Too Short. The winner was chosen by judge Iris Smyles, author of Dating Tips for the Unemployed and Iris Has Free Time.
Smyles on her selection: “Loria Mendoza writes with fire and guts. There is an urgent and searching quality to the stories in Life’s Too Short, and her prose imparts that urgency to her reader. Her words are alive and remind us with each syllable, so are we.”
