McSweeney’s Social Hour: Cowboy Disco

McSweeney’s Publishing cordially invites you to a special evening of music, drinks and dance as we celebrate another day of book/art/merrymaking in the zesty San Francisco bay. Mostly, we just want to hear your stories about your great aunt’s three legged show poodle and cha-cha slide with you in between Dolly Parton and Abba songs. There might even be a fog machine.

A few memorable histories & events that have also taken place on May 4:

1814 – Emperor Napoleon I of France arrives at Portoferraio on the island of Elba to begin his exile.

1974 – An all-female Japanese team reaches the summit of Manaslu, becoming the first women to climb an 8,000-meter peak.

2016 – You attend the McSweeney’s Night of Cocktails and Cowboy Disco. As expected, you are magnetic and charming. Everyone loves you. You’re absolutely contagious. You have become, The Life of the Party.
