Wow! Black Freighter Press (new press whose co-founder is San Francisco’s Poet Laureate Tongo Eisen-Martin) just published Josiah Luis’ book. The poems in Baby Axolotls & Old Pochos hold space inside a colonized time and place we can still recognize as San Francisco. Spanglish antepasado recuerdos and palabras of our neighborhood memories, the pocho American Dream stuffed into Donaldo Trump pinatas with the conejo en la luna looking down on us are spoken in three broken languages in these poems.
