DESCRIPTION:Join us on Sunday\, December 10\, for a lively evening of reading and discussion with authors Ken Scholes and Ben Loory\, moderated by Bay Area author\, editor\, and raconteur Terry Bisson. \nKen Scholes  is the author of five novels and over fifty short stories.  His series\, The Psalms of Isaak\, is published by Tor Books; Hymn\, the final volume in the series\, debuts on December 5. Ken’s short fiction has been collected in three volumes published by Fairwood Press. Ken is a winner of the Writers of the Future Award\, France’s Prix Imaginales\, the Endeavour Award and a scattering of others.  His eclectic background includes time spent as a label gun repairman\, a sailor who never sailed\, a soldier who commanded a desk\, a preacher (he got better)\, a nonprofit executive\, a musician and a government procurement analyst.  He has a degree in History from Western Washington University. \nBen Loory is the author of the collections Stories for Nighttime and Some for the Day and Tales of Falling and Flying\, as well as a picture book for children\, The Baseball Player and the Walrus. His fables and tales have appeared in The New Yorker\, Tin House\, READ Magazine\, and Fairy Tale Review\, been heard on This American Life and Selected Shorts\, and performed live at WordTheatre in Los Angeles and London. He is a graduate of Harvard University and holds an MFA in Screenwriting from the American Film Institute. He lives in Los Angeles\, where he is an Instructor for the UCLA Extension Writers’ Program. \nFor over a decade SF in SF has offered readings\, films\, and special events in the Bay Area for readers of science fiction\, fantasy\, and speculative fiction. Hosted by Terry Bisson\, past guests have included Connie Willis\, Gene Wolfe\, Laurie King\, Nancy Kress\, Lev Grossman\, Patrick Rothfuss\, Gail Carriger\, Cory Doctorow\, Peter S.
