Hollie Hardy and Tomas Moniz hosted the 6th installment of Saturday Night Special at Nick’s Lounge in Berkeley, featuring L.J. Moore and Chanel Timmons. The 14 open mic slots were filled up by 7:08pm, and maybe 6 other authors dared put their names at the bottom; everyone who signed up ended up getting to read.

The next Saturday Night Special has the (optional) theme of “Dirty” and will be held on Saturday, February 25th. If you’re looking for a packed open mic to try out new material, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better spot than the final Saturdays of each month at Nick’s. Oh, also… Camille Dungy will be one of the featured readers (and there’s going to be a surprise well worth the wait).
